AIGA MN 2010 Design Show Materials

The Idea

The theme of the 2010 AIGA MN Design Show materials was to “show your block”. People were asked to “Display your genius. Demonstrate your pride. Show your best.” The block. The cube. The six-sided symbol of “you-done-good.” The form of the AIGA/MN Design Show award inspired us – hefty, substantial, powerful and formidable, yet simple and modest. It is the icon of work that should be recognized.ﾠThis theme served as a metaphor of encouragement to display ones mettle and continue doing what they do at the highest level (despite the economic challenges). And show it to us.

Delivery of Work

The materials were mailed, emailed and twittered out to the design community.

The Results

We invited the winners from the last several years to photograph their Blocks and send the images to us. How do they display them? Where do they store them?ﾠWhat do people do with their Blocks? People used the large on-site poster at the Show to take photos of themselves with the blocks they won. And for the first time since about 2002, a book was produced showcasing all of the winning pieces.
