Have Some High 5s

The Idea

Because this project was born from our desire to do something fun without the rules and regulations set forth by clients and legal departments, there was no client brief. The problem was, we had a lack of projects that were interested in taking a risk or just plain doing something crazy so we made a project that would allow us to do anything we wanted.

We knew that the content was going to look intentionally low budget, I wanted to match that style and create a consistent frame for the deliver of that content. I also wanted to make sure that the videos were the primary focus an that there would be minimal distractions. Overall I was inspired work that I had seen that was able to create a simple design that was a no brainer to use.

While simple and easy to use were key, we still wanted to have fun with the design. Adding transitions between content or different pages allowed us to keep from cluttering up the design while encouraging the user to click through the site to make sure they didn’t miss anything fun.

Delivery of Work

Reaching our audience as well as giving users all the tools they would need to share our content were heavily baked into the design. Because this is an "out there" idea with no real purpose other than to entertain people, we knew that connecting with familiar tools and sites was crucial. In addition to the site we built a mobile version of the site, an iPhone app, and created facebook, youtube, and twitter pages to help spread the word and engage our users.

The Results

Using only social media and word of mouth we were able to get over 250,000 high fives sent around the world in a matter of a couple months. A huge success that we were all really proud of.
