Join Minnesota design legend Peter Seitz for an intimate lunchtime conversation discussing the incorporation of design into numerous aspects of our lives. This event, part of the Lunch with a Legend series, is limited to just eight guests who are interested in the master-level experience of Minnesota’s first AIGA Fellow. It’s a unique opportunity arranged by the Expert Designers Committee to sit down for a meal and conversation with this legendary graphic designer, author, teacher and business owner who, among many achievements, served as the first Design Director at Walker Art Center and established the graphic design curriculum at Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Kolean Pitner, design historian and co-author of Peter’s biography “Designing a Life,” will join Peter as your AIGA Minnesota lunch host. Registration Closed. AIGA Members: $10 Very limited capacity. Open to AIGA Members only. The $10 event fee does not cover the price of your meal. Attendees are expected to order off the restaurant menu (salads, soups, sandwiches, and entreesand pay for your own meal plus gratuity. Pei & Associates, New York, before moving to Minnesota to be the curator of design and editor of Design Quarterly at the Walker Art Center. He became a senior designer at Visual Communications Inc., then founded InterDesign Inc. (an interdisciplinary partnership that combined graphic designers, architects and landscape architects) and Seitz Yamamoto Moss. Later, he presided as principal designer of Peter Seitz and Associates. Seitz’s clients have included the City of St. Paul, Minnesota Zoo, Minneapolis Park Board, Lutheran Brotherhood, Miracle Ear, Mayo Clinic, the City of Des Moines, and the Pacific Convention Center in Yokohama, Japan. His work and articles have been published nationally and internationally. In 1978, Seitz was elected President of the Minnesota Graphic Designers Association (the predecessor of AIGA Minnesota), and served on the AIGA National Board (1983–1986). He also represented the Midwest for the Society of Environmental Graphic Designers (SEGD). Seitz is professor emeritus at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD). For over 30 years he taught in the design department, pioneered the introduction of computers to design students in the mid-1980s, and twice served as acting chair. He also has lectured at many U.S. universities and the University of Art in Osaka, Japan. Seitz earned a B.F.A. at Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm, Germany and an M.F.A. from Yale University School of Art and Architecture.
