Career-Topping Experiences: Tour a New Local Masterpiece

Sold Out

The Lakewood Cemetery Garden Mausoleum is a masterpiece of memorial architecture. Join the Expert Designers for an exclusive tour of this architectural gem led by the architects who designed it. Joan Soranno, design principal and John Cook, project architect, of HGA Architects and Engineers have designed a unique building that must be experienced to be truly appreciated. Built into a hillside with garden views and glimpses of sunlight and sky, the spaces are intimate, filled with light and made with exquisite materials. The tour will begin in the historic Lakewood Memorial Chapel and continue across the street in the newly completed Mausoleum. Joan and John will explain the design process and welcome questions during the tour of the building and gardens. Since its completion in 2012, the Mausoleum has received numerous national and international awards. This is a rare opportunity to explore the creative process that resulted in a contemporary public building of extraordinary quality.

With strong design thinking and creative execution, Amanda has been a graphic designer and effective visual communicator for the past 15 years. Since graduating she has worked at such companies as SUPERVALU, USP Structural Connectors, and Syncada from Visa. Currently she is an in-house designer at Thrivent Financial.

Passionate about the brands and designs that she works on, she is always looking for a new, creative, and innovative way to express an idea or message.

Amanda has become increasingly active in AIGA Minnesota over the past few years as a member of the In-House Designers Committee, for which she served as the Committee Chair for a year and a half, and now as the Director of Career Practice.
