Summary and photos by Emily Brownson

Furnish A Future is a project designed by AIGA Minnesota’s Design For Good initiative to raise awareness for youth experiencing homelessness. It was created in partnership with YouthLink and displayed at the Art Shanty Projects on Saturday, February 27, 2016.

The Furnish a Future exhibit consisted of five pieces of furniture that created a walk-through experience for community visitors. Each furniture item displayed information about challenges homeless youth face in relation to education, food, health, employment, and shelter. In addition, these pieces relayed ways YouthLink works to combat these issues. Through this awareness project, Design for Good created a space where members of the community were invited to discuss youth experiencing homelessness and consider supporting YouthLink’s efforts.
