2011 British Arrows Awards campaign

Every year the Walker Art Center presents the “British Television Advertising Awards,” featuring, you guessed it, the best of British television commercials. The program is by far the most populist event that the Walker presents, so the challenge is how to market an event that could be seen as crass (though in fact the commercials are incredible pieces of work) in an intelligent and artful way. This year we decided to riff off of traditional British soccer logos, appropriating their layouts, colors, and subject matter. Some of the icons that show up in the logos also reference specific content in the featured television commercials. For the campaign we created a mailer, some posters, a web page, and various other collateral.

Another challenge was rebranding an event that has been known for years as the “British Television Awards” to the “British Arrows Awards.”

    Delivery of Work

The audience was Walker members and the Twin Cities public. We reached them in a traditional direct marketing, advertising, online approach.

    The Results

The curators were incredibly happy and the screenings sold out, so we are happy with the results.
