Student Work
<

This is an experimental web project created as a part of a solo exhibition at the XYandZ Gallery on March 31st, 2012. The idea behind this project arose from a series of excursions into Google Earth for the purpose of cloud gazing. This websites automates that process, creating a generative archive which pulls images directly from Google Street View API. The archive grabs images of clouds at regular intervals according to generated GPS coordinates.

    Delivery of Work

This idea reached the viewers by means of a public exhibition. As it was released less than two weeks ago, we are still in the process of reaching a wider audience, this forum being one of them.

    The Results

Because this was a creative, self-initiated project, I am very happy with the outcome. The idea accomplished a new way of interacting with the virtual world (Google Earth). Technically, the website uses a Wordpress system in a very unique way, whereby each cloud is a blog post generated automatically by a script. Also, not the least of the accomplishments is a growing archive of images, and a model for mining new visual content on the web.
