Jeremy Messersmith Gig Poster

By Brian Danaher

<

The design for this gig poster was influenced by Jeremy’s latest album, “The Reluctant Graveyard”. I took cues from the cover art (depicting a wedding with a bride and groom skeleton) as well as the lyrics; in particular the songs ” A Girl, A Boy, and A Graveyard” and “Deathbed Salesmen”, the last of which has a line:

“This is how it has to end/so love somebody while you can”

This lead to the visual of a wedding cake topper grave stone. The posture of the couple adds some tenderness to the subject matter, preventing the design from becoming too somber.

    Delivery of Work

The poster was sold at the show and was available afterwards online.

    The Results

The client loved the poster and overall fan reaction was extremely positive.
