INcredibles: Purpose-Driven Design at Quality Bicycle Products

INcredibles—a series of events focused on in-house creative, issues, and topics—presents the talented internal creative team and inspiring facility at Quality Bicycle Products (QBP).

QBP and Purpose-Driven Design

QBP is a values-based business that strongly believes in purpose over profit. Purpose drives every decision QBP makes in the business, including its design process. Jason Gaikowski, director of brand marketing, and art directors of the QBP brands will talk about their wide assortment of consumer products and how purpose drives the creative process. They’ll cover everything from choosing colors for a line of bicycles to frame graphics to an in-depth look at the design of their soon-to-be-released 1500-page annual catalog. As part of the presentation, get a tour of QBP’s LEED-certified and award-winning in-house studio. Stay after for conversation and refreshments. 4:00-6:00 p.m. Presentation and Tour 6:00-7:00 p.m. Social Hour Quality Bicycle Products 6400 W 105th Street Bloomington, MN map »

With strong design thinking and creative execution, Amanda has been a graphic designer and effective visual communicator for the past 15 years. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor’s degree in Design Communication in 2001. Since graduating she has worked at such companies as SUPERVALU, USP Structural Connectors, and Syncada from Visa. Currently she is an in-house designer at Thrivent Financial.

She sees the big picture and understands that her designs have to do more than look visually appealing; they have to convey the brand, communicate a message, and help achieve the desired goals. Passionate about the brands and designs that she works on, she is always looking for a new, creative, and innovative way to express an idea or message.

Amanda has become increasingly active in AIGA Minnesota over the past few years as a member of the In-House Designers Committee, for which she served as the Committee Chair for a year and a half, and now as the Director of Career Practice.
