Joe Duffy founded The Duffy Group back in 1984. His daughter Bridget was 13, his son, Joseph was 8. Over 34 years, the Duffy design company has changed often… Starting as the design affiliate of advertising agency, Fallon McElligott, a brief stint as the US arm of the London design firm, The Michael Peters Group, another multi-office partnership with Fallon Worldwide, to independently owned Duffy & Partners and now just simply, Duffy.
Both Joe and Joseph are graphic designers. Joe studied fine art at The University of Minnesota and the Minneapolis School of Art (now MCAD). Joseph, just across the river at The College of Visual Arts in St. Paul. Bridget, a graduate from Saint Benedict’s in St. Joseph, MN, has been on the other side of the coin with project management and overall resident taskmaster. A classic case of right brain/left brain at work in the family.
Joe is one of the world’s most respected and sought after thought leaders on branding and design. His work is regularly featured in leading marketing and design publications and is exhibited around the world. He has received the Legacy Medal from the AIGA for a lifetime of achievement in the field of visual communications and was recognized as one of the “fast 50” most influential people in the future of business by Fast Company.
Bridget began in production in 1994 then pioneered project management and business management in the family business; she is instrumental to the success of Duffy. She oversees nearly every function of the business with a keen attention to detail. Bridget has managed many multi-faceted initiatives with demanding budgets and schedules—working closely with internal resources, outside vendors, partners and client teams. These initiatives have included packaging, interactive production, apparel, literature and environmental design.
Joseph, started at Fallon Worldwide in the production and interactive groups before leaving with the family name to help launch Duffy & Partners in 2004. As a designer, his work has been recognized by virtually every design publication in the industry. Today, as EVP of Design, his role is to bring great creative opportunities to the creative team and helps bridge the gap of traditional graphic design and digital tech. He is also the keeper of the Duffy brand.
They have been leading all things Duffy together since 2004. The design business is in their blood, period
