Design Camp® 2013 proved to be an inspiring, moving, and all-around outstanding weekend in the north woods.

Though they stemmed from very disparate backgrounds, all of the keynote speakers really dug deep and offered wise, and oft very personal, words with the audience. Debbie Millman spoke of the beauty in failure, Jessica Hische filled our brains with some expletive charged inspiration, Christian Saylor schooled us in the ways of storytelling, Mark and Able from Big Spaceship explored paradoxes from stage, and Mikey Burton wrapped up the weekend with a volume of freelance stories.

Interspersed between keynote speakers, bountiful workshops kept our minds sharp and interest piqued. Branding, writing, entrepreneurialism, trademarking, career advice, internetting, and sustainability were just a few of the topics covered in more than a dozen breakout sessions.

Sold out registration (over 340 attendees) resulted in a plethora of new friends. There were constant opportunities to network with zeal, such as the cocktail hour, networking dinner, business expo, bar trivia, and, of course, ’round the lakeside campfire.

Thanks to everyone who helped make Design Camp 2013 such a success. Hats off to the Design Camp committee, AIGA Minnesota, our keynote speakers, workshop presenters, sponsors, and the endless amount of support and dedication from the entire design community.

Design Camp was a weekend to remember and we can’t wait to Gather ‘Round again. We’ll see you next year!
