A group of eight AIGA members braved the harsh April snow storm for a delightful lunch and insightful conversation with Jane Tilka of Tilka Design. Jane and her team create branded systems for a wide range of clients. More recently, her firm developed the look of the Then, Now, Wow exhibit at the Minnesota History Center.

Attendees were given the opportunity to ask this legendary designer almost anything from how she started her own business to what she enjoys doing when she is not in the studio. Jane doled out wisdom on the importance of educating your clients, the connection between social psychology and design, as well as how designers can really benefit from reading non-design related material in their spare time. Many questions were answered and we thank Jane for taking the time to speak to the group.

Lunch with a Legend is a unique opportunity to learn firsthand from Minnesota’s design luminaries. Created by the Expert Designers Committee, it offers a range of topics for designers at various stages of their careers. This program is a mini series within the legacy Luncheons program, hosted by AIGA Minnesota. It is also a component of the AIGA Minnesota Mentor Program. Join us for Lunch with a Legend with Monica Little in October 2013.
