Mia Third Thursday:
The Art of Sustainability
June 18, 2016
Summary and photos by Melanie Stovall
The AIGA Minnesota Sustainable Design Committee educated Mia Third Thursday attendees on May 19, 2016 about the lifecycle of plastic straws and how to reduce usage by simply telling your servers/bartenders you’d prefer not to get one.
Rather than having a pledge sheet on a piece of paper, we stamped attendees’ hands and encouraged them to take a five-day pledge by sharing photos on their social media, using the hashtag #StrawsSuck.
The stamp was made out of letterpress type from our friends at Hamilton Ink Spot and the “Don’t Be a Sucker” cards were printed with water-based inks on the backs of old test prints.
