Nearly 40 creatives packed the conference room at Hayden-Heights Library in St. Paul on the evening of May 22, eager to learn the secrets of a successful freelance career. Speaker Carolyn Porter, who operates a one-woman design shop called Porterfolio, shared work, observations and wisdom gleaned over her 12-year solo career collaborating with companies like Boston Scientific, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and Prime Mortgage.

Following the presentation, many of us made our way to Payne Avenue for refreshments and further discussion of passion projects and other design topics at the lively Ward 6.

This event was the first in an ongoing Happy Hour Speaker Series sponsored by AIGA Minnesota Solopreneurs. To learn more, visit our Initiatives page here.
