‘Why Join’ Workshop Recap October 25, 2015
Summary and photos by Caylie O’Neil
On Friday evening, October 23, 2015, Director of Education Angela Niemi, Associate Director of Student Affairs Khurram Mohammad, and I (an Education Committee member) traveled north from Minneapolis to visit design students at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Our AIGA Minnesota team had the great pleasure of sharing the impact that attending AIGA events and getting involved with your professional network can provide.
After walking through the many benefits that AIGA has to offer, the AIGA Minnesota team led a workshop titled, “UXing Your Career.” The focus was to help students think about what they picture their career looking like, what might be standing in their way, and how they could overcome those challenges. It was fun to see by the end of the workshop how excited the students were to take their next steps in getting hired.
To schedule a campus visit for your school, contact Angela Niemi or Khurram Mohammad.
Lastly, Graphic Design Professor Allen Sheets was kind enough to let everyone have a sneak preview of the senior gallery show that opens the week of October 26. There were some incredible projects, with a lot of pieces focusing on very personal passions and causes. We definitely recommend you stop in for a look at the amazing work these talented individuals have put together.
