Title: Frida Kahlo

Purpose of The Work: This catalogue accompanies the exhibition Frida Kahlo, which features 80 of Kahlo’s works, including the hauntingly seductive and often brutal self-portraits. The catalogue featured new critical essays that positioned to Kahlo within art history and visual culture, as well as more than 100 photographs that belong Kahlo and her husband, renowned Mexican muralist Diego Rivera, some taken by eminent photographers of the period, such as Manuel Alvarez Bravo. The book also included a timeline of relevant personal, political, social, cultural events that took place during Kahlo’s life, a bibliography, and exhibition history.
